Prison Department Assam Recruitment Details
Name of the Post: Assistant Jailor
Total No of Posts: 32 Posts
Scale of Pay: Pay scale of Rs. 14,000-60,500 (Pay Band No.2) and Grade pay Rs. 8700/- plus other allowances as admissible under the rules.
Eligibility Criteria:
Educational qualification : The candidate must be a graduate in Arts /Science/ Commerce or equivalent stream from a recognized College / Institutions affiliated to a recognized University.
Nationality: Candidates must be Indian Citizen, permanent resident of Assam. Selected candidates will have to submit Proof of Residence after publication of the final select list. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC/MOBC are exempted from submitting such certificates.
Employment Exchange: Candidates must register his/her name with a local Employment Exchange in Assam.
Language: Candidates must speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.
Age: 21 to 40 years as on 01-07-2022 (i.e. candidate must be born on or before 01.07.2001 and on or after 01.07.1982).
Upper age limit will be relaxed for:
- SC, ST (P) and ST(H): 05 Years
- OBC/MOBC: 03 Years
- Ex-Servicemen: 02 years
Required Physical Standards
Minimum Height:

| ST (H) / ST (P) | 160.02 cm | 142 cm |
- Chest (only for men): measuring not less than 81 cm when deflated.
- Weight (for Male & Female candidates): proportionate to height and age as per medical standard.
- Candidates must be of sound health both mentally and physically, and free from organic defect or bodily infirmity likely to interfere with the efficient discharge of his /her duties.
- Candidates required to undergo and Medical Examination as may be necessary before appointment to the service.
