The Orunodoi Scheme is the Largest Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT) Scheme of Assam. Through Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme beneficiaries get an amount of money in their bank account on 10th of every month. The Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme will start from 10th April, 2023. Initially the Orunodoi Scheme has been launched to provide the monetary benefit to the Women Beneficiaries of poor family. However, through Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme the Assam Govt has decided to provide the benefits to the Widow, Divorced Female, Unmarried Female, Separate Female, Divyangjan, Transgender, Destitute, Living on Alms and Household having any member who is dwarf or ailing from Cerebral Palsy or Thalassemia or Hemophilia or Leprosy or Autism Spectrum Disordered citizens of Assam.
The Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme Beneficiary will get Rs. 1,250/- every month in their Bank Account Directly through DBT. The Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme was launched by the Assam Govt for Citizen of Assam on 14th December 2022. In Orunodoi 2.0 the State Govt will add another around 10.54 Lakhs of new beneficiaries. After addition of fresh beneficiaries the total number of beneficiaries will hit the mark of 27 lakhs.
The District wise finalization of beneficiaries list will take place from 1st to 15th January, 2023 while application forms will be distributed among selected beneficiaries on 20th January, 2023 and the beneficiaries need to submit the application forms in the concerned offices with in 20th February, 2023. The collection and uploading of application forms in the dedicated portal will be completed on 28th February 2023. The beneficiaries will be benefited from 10th April, 2023.
The total financial outlay for Orunodoi is Rs 4,142 crore per annum, making it one of the largest Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) schemes in the country.

- Orunodoi Scheme symbolizes the State Government’s self-reliance, self-confidence and determination to take Assam to a path of Resurgence.
- Monthly assistance to marginalized households of Assam will be provided through Orunodoi Scheme for purchasing essential commodities like pulses, sugar, other nutritional items and medicines.
- This scheme is designed keeping in mind that women are the primary caretakers of the household, and therefore, the cash benefit shall be transferred to her account.
- Orunodoi, the largest ever Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, would give a choice to the poor and needy households on how they want to spend their money.
Eligibility Criteria for Orunodoi Scheme
The Eligibility Criteria to be a beneficiary of Assam govt Orunodoi Asoni 2.0 is mentioned below.
All three following criteria need to be met by the eligible applicant: Should be a permanent resident of Assam, AND Should be presently residing in Assam, AND Any one of the following:
- Composite household income should be less than ₹ 2,00,000 per annum OR
- Household having any member who is dwarf or ailing from Cerebral palsy / Thalassaemia / Hemophilia / Leprosy / Autism spectrum disorder* OR
- Existing beneficiary of Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension Achoni and Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme
Ineligible Criteria:
If any of the following exclusion criteria is observed, the applicant for the Scheme will be considered ineligible:
- Former and current Members of Parliament (MPs), Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
- Current Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local bodies and Autonomous Councils /VCDCs / VDCs (in Sixth Scheduled districts).
- Household with any member serving or having served as an employee and/or officer in any Government ministry, department or office and its field unit or any Central or State Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) or Autonomous Bodies under the Government or local government bodies or Cooperative societies partially/fully funded by Government in a regular position.
- Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, Architects, Advocates and Registered Govt. contractors.
- Households having any individual who paid income tax in the previous Assessment Year (AY)
- Farmer families which own more than 15 Bighas of agricultural land or/and 1 bigha or more residential land in a rural area
- Households owning 1.5 kathas or more land in Kamrup Metro; or 3 kathas or more in any other urban area; or any industrial or commercial land anywhere.
- Household having Motorised four-wheeler (including tractor)
- Households having any Government pensioner Household owning Air Conditioner
Priority Criteria under Orunodoi 2.0
Prioritization criteria will be considered in case there is a lower quota available than the number of applicants
- Has widows, divorced female / unmarried female above age of 45 years / separated females.
- Any specially-abled member of the House Hold.
- Destitute / living on alms.
- Households without shelter or not having a pucca house.
- Households with no adult member between the age of 16 – 59 years.
- Female-headed households with no adult male member between the ages 16 – 59 years.
- Deserted women living in old age homes/institutions registered with the Government.
- Victims of human trafficking or rape of any age, recorded in any Governmental record.

To apply for the Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme a beneficiaries have to visit the nearest Gaon Panchayat Office, Block Development Office, Zilla Parishad Office or Deputy Commissioner Office. You have to collect the Orunodoi Asoni Application Form from the respective office. The Online apply of Orunodoi Scheme is currently unavailable therefore you have to collect the official Orunodoi Asoni Application Form which will be distributed among selected beneficiaries from 20th January 2023.
