About Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Bridha Pension Scheme: On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (2^nd October) and in honour of Swahid Kushal Konwar, Assam government is going to launch a new universal pension scheme for persons of minimum age group of 60. Kushal Konwar who was an Assamese freedom fighter and was hanged during last phase of the Quit India Movement of 1942-43.

First of its kind in the country, a benevolent scheme by the government of Assam with its own resource to provide pension to every senior citizen of the state. The scheme cost is Rs 400 cores annually.

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SWAHID KUSHAL KONWAR SARBAJANIN BRIDHA PENSION ACHONI :

► Person Who attains 60 years of age.

► Person Who is not availing any pension benefit from any other government scheme.

► Persons with children working In Central/State Government, Armed Forces, Para Military Forces etc in Grade I and Grade II posts are not be eligible.

► Anyone who is an income tax payee and his/her income is above Rs 2.50 lakh per annum is also not eligible.

HOW TO APPLY ONLINE FOR SWAHID KUSHAL KONWAR SARBAJANIN BRIDHA PENSION SCHEME :

► Apply online with the help of your respective Gaon Panchayat/Development Block/ Municipal Corporation/Municipal Board/Town Committee.

► One must have a bank account to avail the pension. If you do not have a bank account then open account in bank immediately.

► Age proof and bank details are to be submitted with application form.

► Birth certificate/School leaving certificate/PAN Card/or the certificate given by Circle Officer/BDO/Sub Divisional Medical Officer will be accepted as age proof.

Sjt. Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam launched the scheme on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in a function to be held at Sarusajai Sports Complex on 2^nd October, 2018 at 12 noon. The programme was telecasted through Doordarshan in DD Non h-East Channel and will be shown in the Gaon Sabhas to be held in every Gaon nanchayat of the state. Approximately 2 lakh beneficiaries will be delivered their pension through their bank account in the first phase tots come and join in the Gaon Sabhas and assist in successful implementation of this special scheme of Assam Government. As per the scheme it is expected that the people selected for the pension will get Rs 250 /- per month.
