- Noted Filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi (64), acclaimed for making women-oriented films like “Rudaali”, “Ek Pal, “Daman” and “Chingaari”, died following a multiple organ failure. Lajmi had also penned a book, “Bhupen Hazarika: As I Knew Him”, on Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
- Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a Mother & Childcare Hospital at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.
- ISRO Technology Incubation Centre Inaugurated at NIT Agartala by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)’ hailing it as the “world’s biggest state-run healthcare scheme”.
- The Central government has raised interest rates on Small Savings Schemes (SSS),including National Savings Certificate (NSC) and Public Provident Fund (PPF) by up to 4% for the October-December quarter.
- Public Provident Fund Scheme Rate of interest is 0 w.e.f 01.10.2018 to 31.12.2018
- Government Appoints New MD & CEOs At 10 PSBs. The list of people appointed as MD and CEO at various PSBs:
- Padmaja Chundru – Indian Bank.
- Mrutyunjay Mahapatra – Syndicate Bank.
- Pallav Mohapatra – Central Bank of India.
- Packirisamy –Andhra Bank.
- Karnam Sekar –Dena Bank.
- SS Mallikarajuna Rao –Allahabad Bank – He is currently the ED of Syndicate Bank.
- Atul Kumar Goel –UCO Bank – He is currently the ED at Union Bank of India.
- AS Rajeev –Bank of Maharashtra – He is currently the ED of Indian Bank.
- S Harisankar –Punjab & Sind Bank. He is currently the Executive Director of Allahabad Bank.
