Sports Scholarship From Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Assam – Applications are invited from the eligible players of Assam for award of Sports Talent Search Scholarship for the year 2018-19 as per the following terms and conditions:


Conditions for Sports Scholarship From Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Assam

    1. The applicant must be a citizen of India and a resident of Assam.
    2. The applicant’s age should not be more than 19 years on 31st March, 2018 in case of school students and should not be more than 22 years on 31st March 2018 in case of college students.
    3. The applicants shall apply only in one discipline in which he / she had achieved highest performance during the financial year from 01.04.2017 to 31.03.2018
    4. All members of winning and runners-up team and first, second or third position holders in individual events in the State i National Level Championship are eligible to apply for the Scholarship
    5. The Scholarship may be awarded on the basis of performance In –
    6. State Level:
      1. The value of the Scholarship shall be Rs. 6000/- per annum i.e. Rs. 500/- per month
      2. Member of Champion / Runners-up teams and those attaining first three positions in individual /discipline /event in the State level Competitions, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare. Assam, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, State Sports Associations. Inter College Competitions Organized by the respective University Sports Board of the State In which minimum five Districts / Institutions had participated, shall be eligible for the scholarship.
    7. National Level:
        1. The value of the Scholarship shall be Rs. 8400/- per annum i.e Rs. 700/- per month
        2. Member of Winner / Runners -up team and those attaining first three positions in individual discipline / event in National level Competitions, organized by the School Games Federation of India, National Sports Federations, Sports Authority of India.

    8. All India University Sports Control Board shall be eligible for this Scholarship.
    9. The applicant should not receive any other Sports Scholarship from any other source and should not be an Inmate of Sports Hostel of SAI / State Govt. In case the applicant is already in receipt of any such award / facility, he / she will have to surrender that in order to avail the benefits of this Scholarship. A selected candidate may however enjoy Merit Scholarship for students other than Sports Scholarship and fee concession given by the educational institution In which he / she studies.
    10. If the date of competitions / timing / distance / height / weight / points etc. achieved are not mentioned in the certificate, the applicant may obtain the same from the concerned Association / Federation and enclose the same with the application form, failing which, the application will not be considered.
    11. If an applicant is in fulltime employment in Govt Deptt. / Undertaking, he / she will not be eligible for the award.
    12. The Scholarship shall be awarded for 1 (one) year only.
    13. There will be duly constituted Selection Committee to scrutinize the applications and select the candidates for award of the Scholarship on the basis of their performance and merit. The decision of the Committee will be final and binding No further correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
    14. No application will be issued and received directly by the Director of Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam. The applicants are to collect applications forms from the office of the concerned District Sports Officer on or before 9th August, 2018. The application forms will be made available in the office of the District Sports Officer.

Sports Scholarship From Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Assam – Applications are invited from the eligible players who have represented the National Teams in the International Competitions during the period from 01.04 2017 to 31.03.2018 through the concerned National Federation for award of Financial Assistance to the tune of Rs. 50,000/- (one time) for the year 2018-19.

The filled-in applications are to reach the respective office of the District Sports Officer on or before 15th September, 2018 enclosing the participation certificate, selection list from the federation, Age Certificate and photocopy of the 1st page of the Bank Passbook (with IFSC Code). The disciplines included under this award are only Olympic events.

  • The eligible players may contact the concerned District Sports Officer 20th July, 2018 onwards to collect application forms
  • Last date of submission of duly filled-up form(s) In the Office of the District Sports Officer is 15th September, 2018.
