CHANGE IN CGPA INTO EQUIVALENT PERCENTAGE CONVERSION FORMULA FOR GU PASS OUT STUDENTS FROM YEAR 2008 ONWARDS

An important message for all pass out students of Gauhati University from the year 2008 onwards. The formula for conversion of CGPA into equivalent percentage has been changed. As per official Gauhati University notice ‘ It is notified for information of all concerned that the Academic Council, GU in its meeting held on 29/03/2018 has approved the modification in conversion formula for converting the CGPA into equivalent percentage, This conversion formula has been made effective for all the batches of students from the year 2008 onwards who passed out from Gauhati University.

Accordingly, for all subjects, percentage would be calculated by multiplying the CGPA by 10 i.e the formula for convertion of CGPA into percentage is  CGPA x 10.
The Academic Council G.U. further decided to consider the subject of Geography as Science subject for calculation of percentage from the CGPA. This is issued with the approval of the Hon.ble Vice-Chancellor, G.U, dated 20/05/2018′

Now for example, if for student named ‘A’ got 8.9 CGPA, according to new formula the equivalent percentage for A will be 8.9 x 10 =89 %
