- N Biren Singh, Manipur Chief Minister has said that the helicopter service will be launched from May 15 in Manipur
- Assamese writer and journalist Homen Borgohain and poet Nilamoni Phookan were honoured with the prestigious Rashtrakavi Kuvempu National Award 2017 . The Rashtrakavi Kuvempu National Award , instituted by Rastrakavi Kuvempu Pratisthana of Kuppali (Karnataka) is given in the name of Kannada writer and Jnanpith Award winning litterateur KV Puttappa, popularly known as Kuvempu.
- A cyclist from guwahati named Arshel Akhter has been appointed the ‘Bicycle Mayor’ of Guwahati by BYCS, an NGO based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
