- A comprehensive one-horned rhino census was conducted by the Forest department of Assam in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. As per the census at present there are 102 rhinos in the sanctuary.
- A research team of Department of Life Sciences (Fishery unit), Manipur University has discovered a new freshwater fish species ‘Pethia poiensis’ in Challou river at Ukhrul district
- New Year of the Manipuris ‘ Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba’ was celebrated in Manipur on March 18
