ASSAM – NORTHEAST CURRENT AFFAIRS

• The Assam State government to start issue of Aadhaar cards from March and already identified 1,241 different locations across Assam for setting up Aadhaar Enrollment Centres (Kendras). There is a delay in the process as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has cancelled distribution of Aadhaar cards through its empanelled enrolment agency.

• 5 new Assam Houses to be available in major cities- New Delhi, Kolkata, Vellore, Chennai and Bengaluru.
• Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended Sirish Festival, 2018 at Misa , Kaliabor on 18^th February
• Rajiv Kumar committee has been constituted by the Central Government to study Brahmaputra river and flood control measures in Assam
