ASSAM – NORTHEAST CURRENT AFFAIRS

• The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said “The 100th slot is kept on hold for Shillong. It is yet to submit the proposal. They are busy in the election. It is expected that the city will submit the proposal after the elections”

• The Department of Anthropology of Gauhati University, in association with the Guwahati Regional Committee of Indian National Confederation and the Academy of Anthropologist (INCAA), has organised the Indian Anthropology Congress at the university premises last week.
• Swahid Piyali Baruah’s 159th death anniversary is observed. Maniram Dewan and Piyali Baruah were hanged together in Jorhat on February 26, 1858.
• The famous Doul Mahotsava to be celebrated at Barpeta Satra from 28 February 28 to 4 March
