GAUHATI UNIVERSITY ADMISSION NOTIFICATION FOR THE SESSION 2016-17

Students may visit and seek assistance for online submission of application forms in Darrang College, Tezpur, Bongaigaon College, Bongaigaon, M.N.C. Balika Mahavidyalya, Nalbari, B.H. College, Howly, Bholanath College, Dhubri and Nowgong College, Nagaon.

The programmes opened for admissions are: (a) Master of Arts (M.A.) in Anthropology, Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Economics, Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Linguistics & English Language Teaching (ELT), Mass Communication, Mathematics, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, Statistics, Women’s Studies and Comparative Indian Literature. (b) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Anthropology, Animal Ecology and Wildlife Biology, Biotechnology, Botany, Microbiology, Chemistry, Computer Science/Information Technology, Economics, Electronics & Communication Technology, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Instrumentation, Mathematics, Microelectronics and Advance Communication, Physics, Psychology, Statistics and Zoology. (c) Master of Commerce (M.Com.) (d) Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) (e) Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Information Technology, Biotechnology, Signal Processing & Communication, Signal Processing & VLSI Design and Material Science & Technology. (f) P.G. Diploma in Creative Writing & Translation.

Additional Prescribed Forms: Candidates seeking admission under any reservation/quota viz. Differently Abled (Disabled), Son/Daughter of permanent G.U. Employees in service, Son/Daughter of G.U. Ex. Employees, Son/Daughter of Ex-Defence Personnel, Fringe Village and Extra-curricular & Co-curricular Activities, must submit the respective additional prescribed form(s), obtainable from the Gauhati University Press (GUP) on payment of Rs. 50/- (Rupees fifty) only as cost of the form. The form is to be submitted at the respective departments.

 Gauhati University Admission Notification Entrance Test:

(a) There will be Entrance Test for all the candidates seeking admission in Animal Ecology and Wildlife Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science/Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Technology, Environmental Science, Instrumentation, Library & Information Science, Linguistics & ELT, Mass Communication, Microelectronics and Advance Communication, Microbiology, Psychology, Sociology and Women’s Studies, Comparative Indian Literature, M.Tech. in Information Technology, Biotechnology, Signal Processing & Communication, Signal Processing & VLSI Design and Material Science & Technology. The date and time of the Entrance Test will be available in the Prospectus. An amount of Rs. 200/-(Rupees two hundred) only as fee for the Entrance Test for each subject is to be paid through Bank Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, G.U. payable at Guwahati (For those who submit hardcopy application form). Students who will opt for online submission of application form will have to make this payment through e-challan in any SBI Branch.

(b) The students of Other Universities and all students applying for interdisciplinary programmes inclusive of both the general and reserve categories will have to appear in an Entrance Test of 100 marks of 2 (two) hours duration for all the courses in respective subjects. The syllabus for the Entrance Test will be of degree standard in the respective subjects in Gauhati University.

Candidates, whose TDC final results are not declared, may also submit their application and may sit in the Entrance Test; but such candidates must submit their necessary Marksheets & Certificates of final examination in the respective Departments on or before 28.07.2016.

The candidates applying for admission under Differently Abled (Disabled) quota, will have to appear before the Medical Board on 03-08-2016 at 11.00 a.m. in the office of the Secretary, University Classes, G.U.
