    • PROPERTY RIGHTS IN INDIA:
      • A nine-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court delivered a landmark ruling in Property Owners Association v State of Maharashtra, restricting the powers of the state to acquire private property.
      • The Supreme Court judgement clarified on Article 39(b), stressing a case-by-case approach for classifying private property as a “material resource” for public use.
    • GOVERNANCE AND AI:
      • India’s first AI Data Bank to boost innovation by offering researchers, startups, and developers access to diverse datasets for scalable AI solutions was launched recently.
    • DIGITIZATION OF LAND RECORDS:
      • Union Minister of Rural Development recently notified that nearly 95% of the land records have been digitized in Rural India since 2016.
    • Justice Sanjiv Khanna took oath as 51st Chief Justice of India (CJI).
    • INTER-STATE COUNCIL (ISC):
      • The Inter-State Council has been reconstituted. Established under Article 263 of Constitution through a Presidential Order in 1990 on recommendation of Sarkaria Commission.
    • THE GROUP OF TWENTY (G20) SUMMIT:
      • The 18th G20 Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, under the theme Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.
      • The next G-20 is to be in South Africa. Brazil, India & South Africa together forms the troika of G20.
    • FIRST TRILATERAL POWER TRANSACTION:
      • Inauguration of first trilateral power transaction from Nepal to Bangladesh through the Indian Grid took place.
      • The tripartite power sales agreement between NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam, Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) and Bangladesh Power Development Board was signed earlier.
    • DIRECT BENEFIT TRANSFER (DBT):
      • As per a recent report by the State Bank of India, the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) amount to women through various schemes has crossed ₹ 2 trillion mark across multiple states.
      • Launched: 2013.
      • Objective: Reform the mechanism of transferring cash subsidies and benefits to ensure reduction in leakages, faster delivery and elimination of delays in fund flow.
    • RBI ISSUES FRAMEWORK FOR RECLASSIFICATION OF FPI TO FDI:
      • Under current regulations, foreign portfolio investment (FPIs) can hold a maximum of 10% of an Indian company’s total paid-up equity capital (amount of money that a company receives from shareholders in exchange for shares).
    • NANO FERTILIZERS:
      • Indian Scientists have developed a nanomaterial coating (made of nanoclay) for muriate of potash (MoP).
    • UNIFORM PROTECTION PROTOCOL:
      • Central Electricity Authority approves the Uniform Protection Protocol for users of Indian Grid for implementation on Pan India basis.
    • In March 2024, the Allahabad High Court struck down the UP Madarsa Act
    • Competition Commission of India: It is a statutory body of the Government of India. Its responsibility is to enforce Competition Act 2002.
    • In 2024, India celebrated its 75th National Constitution Day (since the constitution was adopted on 26th November 1949).

    • PM Vidyalaxami Scheme: A Central Sector Scheme. Provide financial support to meritorious students in their pursuit of higher education.
      • Any student who gets admission to a quality Higher Education Institution (QHEI) will be eligible to get collateral-free, guarantor-free loans from banks and financial institutions to cover the full amount of tuition fees and other expenses related to the course.
      • Loan amounts up to ₹ 7.5 lakh.
      • Interest subvention-3% for students having family income upto ₹ 8 lakhs per annum.
    • “One Nation, One Subscription“: The “One Nation, One Subscription” (ONOS) initiative of the Government of India is aimed at providing countrywide access to academic research and educational resources through a single, centralized subscription.
    • H1 B visa: The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa. It allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations such as IT, engineering, and science.
      • There is a H1B visa quota allotted to countries like India and China.
    • PM Modi was awarded Nigeria’s “Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger“-second highest national honour of Nigeria.
    • Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) Member Countries:
      • G20 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, India, Italy, Japan, South Africa, and the United States. Non-G20 countries: Iceland, Kenya, Guyana, Paraguay, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Finland, Tanzania, and the Philippines
    • The International Criminal Court (ICC), located in The Hague, Netherlands.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) retained State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs) for 2023-24.
    • Bima Sugam portal:
      • Bima Sugam is an upcoming online platform initiated by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Bima Sugam will enable individuals to buy life, health, motor or property insurance policies online.
    • Atal Innovation Mission:
      • It is the Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
    • PAN 2.0:
      • PAN 2.0 is a modernized version of India’s Permanent Account Number (PAN) system, designed to make it more digital, secure, and user-friendly.
    • Lignosat:
      • It is the world’s first wood-panelled satellite.
      • It has been developed by Kyoto University of Japan.
    • MACE in Ladakh:
      • The Major Atmospheric Cherenkov Experiment (MACE) telescope is operational in Hanle, Ladakh. It is one of the largest gamma-ray telescopes in the world, with a diameter of 21 meters.
    • Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve:
      • Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve of Chhattisgarh declared as India’s 56th tiger reserve.
      • Falls between Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh) and Palamau Tiger Reserve (Jharkhand), forming a contiguous habitat.
    • Bhasha Gaurav Saptah Celebration:
      • A week-long program called “Bhasha Gaurav Saptah” began in Assam to celebrate the state’s linguistic diversity and heritage.
      • The program aims to celebrate Assamese language declaration as classical language, and to appreciate the linguistic contributions of different scholars and communities in Assam.
    • Barak River:
      • Three bodies, recently discovered in Manipur’s Barak River. Originates from the Manipur hills in Manipur. The river is approximately 900 kilometers long, flowing through India, Bangladesh, and eventually merging into the Meghna River.
      • In India: Flows through Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Assam.
    • GI tag to Mising community handloom products:
      • The Mising community’s handloom products have been honored with the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
    • Bibek Debroy is no more:
      • Bibek Debroy, economist, Padma Shri awardee, and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council since 2017, passed away at age 69.
      • He translated Indian scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, Vedas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata into English, contributing to making ancient texts accessible.
    • 48th Wangala festival:
      • Wangala is also called the festival of “The Hundred Drums”, a harvest festival celebrated by the Garo tribe, who live in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Assam in India and Greater Mymensingh in Bangladesh.

      • British author Samantha Harvey won the 2024 Booker Prize for her novel Orbital.
    • Poorvi Prahar:
      • A mega tri-service exercise named “Poorvi Prahar” is being conducted in the eastern sector near the China border, showcasing advanced military technology and logistics.
      • The exercise involves the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police).
    • UN’s Best Tourism Village Upgrade Programme:
      • Dhudmaras, a small village in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, has been selected for the UN’s Best Tourism Village Upgrade Programme by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
    • ‘ADAPTIVE DEFENSE’ STRATEGY:
      • The Raksha Mantri highlighted that traditional notions of war are being reshaped by emerging technologies and evolving strategic partnerships, necessitating an ‘Adaptive Defense’ strategy to address the new challenges.
    • DIGITAL ARREST:
      • Recently, the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In) has issued an advisory alerting citizens about preventing online scam, including digital arrests.
    • INDIA’S FOURTH NUCLEAR SUBMARINE:
      • India’s fourth nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), referred to as S4*, was launched. India currently has 2 SSBNs operational i.e. INS Arihant & INS Arighaat (S3). Third SSBN Aridhman (S4) is currently undergoing sea trials.
    • Missile Systems of India:
      • Inducted: AKASH (Surface to Air Missile Systems), BRAHMOS (Long Range Supersonic Cruise Missile), etc
      • Advanced stage of induction: NAG (Anti-Tank Guided Missiles), ASTRA (Air-to-Air Missiles), Agni (Long Range Ballistic Missile) etc.
    • PANTSIR AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM (PADS):
      • Bharat Dynamics Limited, signed a MoU with Russia’s Rosoboronexport for “cooperation on Pantsir variants”. About PADS.
    • EXERCISE ANTARIKSHA ABHYAS 2024:
      • India’s 1st Space Defense Exercise Antariksha Abhyas 2024 held in Delhi.
    • OPERATION SAGAR MANTHAN:
      • The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 700 kg of Methamphetamine as part of Operation Sagar-Manthan.
      • Realize vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2047
    • SOHRAI PAINTING:
      • Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted Sohrai Painting to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin during BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. Practiced mainly in mural art form in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand.
