Assam Merit Scholarship 2026

The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has invited online applications through the DIDS Portal for various Assam Merit Scholarship and Financial Assistance Schemes for eligible students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities. The schemes include Special Incentives for OBC Meritorious Students (Boys and Girls), Financial Incentives for SC Meritorious Boys and Girls, Financial Assistance to SC and OBC students appearing in the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination, and Pre-Matric Scholarships for SC students from Class I to VIII. Details of Assam Merit Scholarship 2026

Name of Scholarship: Financial Incentive/ Assistance For Students Belonging to SC & OBC Students of Assam

Name of Assam Govt. Department: Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam

Eligible Categories: Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC)

Opening Date of Application: 1st November, 2026

Available Schemes:

• Special Incentive to OBC Meritorious Students (Boys & Girls).
• Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Girls Students.
• Financial Assistance to SC students appearing in the Mains Examination of UPSC.
• Financial Assistance to OBC students appearing in the Mains Examination of UPSC.
• Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Boy Students.
• Pre Matric Scholarship to SC Students (Class I to VIII).

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Merit Scholarship 2026

For Special Incentive to OBC Meritorious Students (Boys & Girls):

a. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an educational institution as students.

b. Applicants must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community of Assam.

c. Applicants must have secured at least 80% marks in the HSSLC examination conducted by SEBA, CBSE or ICSE.

d. The annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹5,00,000.

For Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Boy Students :

a. Applicants must be currently pursuing their studies in a recognised educational institution.

b. Only male candidates are eligible to apply under this scheme.

c. Applicants must be permanent residents of Assam and belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) community.

d. Candidates must have obtained at least 80% marks in the HSSLC examination conducted by SEBA, CBSE or ICSE.

e. The annual family income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹5,00,000.

For Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Girl Students :

a. Applicants must be actively pursuing their studies in a recognised educational institution.

b. Only female candidates are eligible to apply for this scheme.

c. Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) community of Assam.

d. Candidates must have secured at least 80% marks in the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA, CBSE or ICSE.

e. The annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹5,00,000.

For Financial Assistance to OBC Students appearing in the Mains Examination of UPSC:

a. Applicants must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community of Assam to be eligible for this financial assistance scheme.

b. Candidates must have successfully qualified in the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

c. The annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹5,00,000.

For Financial Assistance to SC Students appearing in the Mains Examination of UPSC:

a. Applicants must be members of the Scheduled Castes (SC) community of Assam to qualify for this financial assistance scheme.

b. Candidates must have successfully passed the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

c. The annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹5,00,000.

For Pre Matric Scholarship to SC Students (Class I to VIII):

a. Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) community of Assam to be eligible for this scholarship scheme.

b. Students must be currently studying in Class I to Class VIII at a recognised educational institution.

c. The annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹2,50,000.

How to Apply Assam Merit Scholarship 2026

Students while applying for Assam Merit Scholarships for the above 6 (six) schemes are hereby required to register themselves in the DIDS Portal of Govt. of Assam.  Steps to Apply for Assam Merit Scholarship 2026 is given below.

Step 1: Visit the important link section and click on Apply Now.

Step 2: Now Click on Citizen Login .

Step 3: Insert the details of yours as asked for.

Step 4: After a successful registration an One Time Registration (OTR) will be generated.

Step 5: Again login to DIDS Portal and filled the details and upload the necessary document and click on final submit.

Step 6: Before submitting the application carefully review all the information provided and the documents uploaded. Make any necessary corrections.

Step 7: Save or take a print out of the acknowledgement receipt for further references.
