Eligibility Criteria for DU Phd Admission 2025

Criteria I

• A candidate seeking admission to the course for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) shall have to complete a 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree programme after a 3- year Bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
• Not more than 50% of the seats in the subject concerned shall be filled up by the candidates, who are exempted from appearing the DURAT as per the provisions above.

Criteria II: A candidate may also be enrolled if she/he has any other degree recognized as equivalent to the Master’s Degree in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research, provided the candidate fulfills the conditions at (I) above.

Criteria III: Under special circumstances, a candidate may be allowed by the Research Council to undertake research in a subject other than one in which she/he has obtained Master’s Degree. Before permitting the candidate to do so, the Council shall satisfy itself that the branches are inter-related and/or the candidate is competent to undertake research in the particular subject as evidenced by published/practical works.

Criteria III: The intending candidates should ensure that their candidature is complied with the eligibility criteria for admission prescribed in Clause 12 (A) and 12 (B) of the Dibrugarh University Regulations for the Research Council and for the Degree of Ph.D., 2023.

How to Apply for Dibrugarh University Phd Admission 2025

Students who are willing to pursue Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme under Dibrugarh University need to apply online for DURAT 2025. The candidates need to visit the DURAT Portal given in the website www.dibru.ac.in to apply online for Dibrugarh University Phd Admission. Candidates are advised to follow the following procedure

• The candidate shall be required to register in the Online Application Portal given in the website www.dibru.ac.in by entering Full Name, Password and a Mobile Number. The candidate will get an OTP in the Mobile Number which is to be entered for Activation.
• After Activation, the candidates shall be required to login by entering his/ her Mobile Number and password.
• The applicants shall be required to pay the Application Fee of Rs. 950/- only through the online payment gateway by using Debit (ATM) Card/Credit Card/ Internet Banking/ UPI during the submission of the Application Form. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
• The applicants can save and review the information entered before submission, which can be edited on subsequent login. However, after submission, editing of information shall not be possible

The applicants need to submit the Print-Copy of the application form along with the following self-attested documents at the Office of the Department/ Centre of Studies concerned where they wish to apply for the Ph.D. Programme –

• Copy of the Award Letter (in case of CSIR/UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates and/or candidates having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies).
• Copies of the Pass Certificate and Mark Sheets from HSLC to Master’s Degree.
• Caste Certificate [in case the Candidate belongs to SC/ ST and OBC/MOBC (Non Creamy layer)] or Certificates related to PWD and EWS.
• No Objection Certificate (in case the Candidate is employed).
