Distribution Process of Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award 2026

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Assam, will obtain the list of students who have secured 80% or above marks in the HS Examination directly from the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). Based on this data, the list of eligible beneficiaries will be published on the official DHE Assam website.

Students whose names appear in the beneficiary list must complete the online application process through the application link made available on the DHE official portal within the prescribed timeline. After verification of the applications, the Directorate will appoint Nodal Principals at selected institutions to coordinate the smooth distribution of scooters.

The Nodal Principals will issue the Appreciation Certificates to eligible students. Beneficiaries must collect this certificate from their respective Nodal Principal and submit it to the authorised scooter dealer allotted to them for vehicle delivery.

The Government of Assam will bear the expenses for vehicle registration and insurance by releasing the required funds to the Nodal Principals, who will transfer the amount directly to the authorised dealers after verifying the beneficiary details. Therefore, students will not be required to pay any registration or insurance charges while collecting their scooters.

Each beneficiary will also receive a helmet free of cost along with the scooter. However, the Government will not provide financial assistance for any additional accessories or optional fittings.

In unfortunate circumstances where an eligible student passes away before receiving the scooter, the legal guardian may decide whether to claim the benefit. Furthermore, students who receive the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme will not be eligible for the Nijut Moina Scheme. However, an eligible girl student who voluntarily declines the scooter benefit may subsequently apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme, subject to the applicable government guidelines.
