Cotton University has invited online Applications from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD Programme 2021-22 in Cotton University, as per the Ph.D. Rules and Regulations of the University together with the current UGC regulations for “Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/ PhD Degrees”, in the following Departments/Disciplines within the respective Faculties.

Eligibility Criteria for Cotton University PhD Admission

• A Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC recognised University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade, in a subject related to the Ph.D. discipline where applying.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade, from the requirement of above, shall be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently-Abled and such other categories as specified in case of admission in an institution under Government of Assam.
• While determining the eligibility of a candidate subject to conditions of 1st and 2nd above points, grace marks or points awarded in the qualifying examination, if any, shall not be counted.
• Selections will be via a Written Entrance Test followed by Viva-voce to be held separately for each Department/Discipline. The minimum qualifying marks in the Entrance Test is fixed at 50% as per UGC guidelines. The minimum qualifying mark for candidates belonging to categories mentioned in 2nd point will be 45%. For final selection of candidates a weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to the performance in the interview/ viva-voce shall be given.
• The university reserves the option to call applicants with national-level scholarships such as UGC/CSIR Junior Research Fellowship, INSPIRE etc. to viva-voce/ interview with no consideration of their performance in the written test. However, the university also reserves the right not to exercise this option.
• There shall be a 5% relaxation of qualifying marks in the Written Examination for candidates belonging to reserved categories and for those who had cleared NET or SLET in the related discipline within a period of two years preceding the date of this notification.

Candidates who have matched the above eligibility criteria and interested to enroll the PhD progarmme for 2022 in their respective subjects under Cotton University are requested to apply online through the Cotton University Official Website. The application may only be submitted ONLINE through the University website https://admissions.cottonuniversity.ac.in from 01 February 2022 onwards.
