Applications are invited from Indian Citizens defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitutions of India for filling up of 5(five) posts of Junior Scientific Officers in “Assam Science Technology and Environment Council” (ASTEC) and 1 (one) post of Junior Scientific Officer in Assam State Space Application Centre (ASSAC) on direct recruitment basis in the scale of pay Rs.30,000.00 — Rs.1,00,000.00 (GP: Rs.12,700.00) as per following prescribed qualification, Division (Subject Category) and desirable experience.

Scale of Pay: Rs. 30,000.00 — Rs.1,10,000.00 (GP: Rs.12,700.00)

Age Limit: The candidates should not be less than 21 years and not more than 38 years as on 01-01- 2021.

Age Relaxation:

Category-wise age relaxation is as mentioned below :

SC/ST: 5 years
OBC: 3 years

Resident ship: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. As a domicile proof of the candidate, one of the documents viz. PRC/ Voter ID card/ Employment Registration needs to be enclosed.

Educational Qualification:

Category A: M.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics or B.E./ B.Tech in Electrical Engg/ Electronics/ Instrumentation Engg/ Computer Science/ B.Sc (Agri)/ MCA or, any equivalent Degree in the relevant fields from any recognised university/ institution.
Category B: M.Sc. in Environmental Science/ Zoology/ Botany/ Geography Or, BE/ B.Tech in Environmental Engg./ Civil Engg/ Chemical Engg. Or , any equivalent Degree in the relevant fields from any recognised university/ institution.
Category C: M.Sc/ M.Tech in Geo Informatics/Geomatics/ Remote Sensing and GIS or any equivalent Degree in the relevant fields from any recognised university/ institution. OR BE/ B.Tech in Geo Informatics/Geomatics/Physical Sciences or, any equivalent Degree in the relevant fields from any recognised university/ institution.

Experience: 2 years of experience in the relevant field after completion of essential education qualification. For Category C, working experience in Geo Web Services/ SDSS/MWRS/IOT/AI/DP/Big Data Analysis/ Programming/ Coding in Python/ Java/C/C++/VB etc.

While filling up the online application, candidates must mention their choice of Category. In-service applicants must apply through proper channel. They also have to submit the application online and the scanned copy of forwarding letter has to be uploaded or to be submitted at the time of written test.

Scanned copies of documents to be attached along with the online application: Proof of Age. Pass Certificate of the Qualifying Examination. Certificate against Reserve Category. Passport size photograph etc.

Date of Written Test: The venue, date & time will be uploaded in the website www.astec.assam.gov.in.
No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the Written Test or Viva Voce.

The original documents of the candidate will be verified on the date of written test

Selection Process for ASTEC Recruitment

If a large number of applications are received screening will be done as per educational merit and only the shortlisted candidates will be called for written test.
Selection process will be in two phases- (i) Written Test and (ii) Viva Voce.
ASTEC Written Test for Junior Scientific Officers will be of I00 marks.
The candidates called for viva race have to make a PowerPoint presentation of 10 minutes on a scientific topic, which will be followed by interaction by the Selection Committee. A list of topics will be provided to the candidates selected for the viva-voce (along with the communication letter), out of which he/she can choose one topic from the list for presentation.
Separate question papers for the written test will be given against different subject code as per following syllabus.
Duration of the ASTEC Written Test will be of 2 (two) hours.
