CBSE CTET September 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 examination. Candidates who are aspiring to become teachers in Central Government Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other CBSE-affiliated institutions can now apply online for CTET 2026. Name of the Exam: Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026

Conducting Authority: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

Exam Mode: Offline (OMR-based)

Date for Declaration of CBSE CTET Result : By end of October, 2026

Eligibility Criteria for CBSE CTET 2026

For I-V or Primary Stage:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)

(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher.

For VI-VIII or Elementary Stage:

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education). OR
  • Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

 

How to Apply For CBSE CTET 2026

To apply online candidates have to visit the official website link of CTET. To visit online application link directly please scroll down to the important link section and click on Apply Now.

Step 1: Visit the important link section and click on Apply Now.

Step 2: Click on for Register.

Step 3: The Candidate needs to register on the portal by clicking the “Register” button and providing his/her name, mobile number and a password. The mobile number will be verified through an OTP. Please remember the password for login.

Step 4: After a successful registration click on Login and enter your mobile number and Password.

Step 5: Filled the details and upload the necessary document such as Passport Photo, Signature etc.

Step 6: Make to payment of your respective application fee.

Step 7: Save or take a print out of the acknowledgement receipt for further references.
