Assam Special TET 2026
Assam Department of School Education has published a notification regarding Assam Special TET for Lower Primary(LP) and Upper Primary(UP) level for the Bodo, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium as per the guidelines laid down by NCTE. The qualified candidates of the Special Assam TET 2026 will be eligible to participate in the recruitment process for the teacher post of elementary level schools provided they have other academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms.
Assam Special TET Details
Name of Exam: Special Assam TET 2026
Name of Department: Assam Department of School Education
Type of Exam: Written Exam (OMR) with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Medium of Exam: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and English
Date of Exam: Not announced
Duration of Exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes for each Paper. An additional 20 minutes time (per hour) will be there for visually impaired candidates.
No of papers: 2 Papers
- Paper-I: Lower Primary (LP)
- Paper-II: Upper Primary (UP)
Required Marks to Qualifying the Assam Special TET 2026: A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ ST (Plain)/ OBC/MOBC/ PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5%. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55%.
Assam Special TET Eligibility Details
Educational Qualification: Candidate must have minimum academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms as follows:
Lower Primary(LP) Level: Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Upper Primary(UP) Level: Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR At least 50% marks in Graduation and B. Ed. OR At least 55% marks in Post Graduation or equivalent grade and three year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed. OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B. Ed.(Special Education).
Relaxation: Relaxation up to 5% in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation shall be applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) to appear in Special Assam TET- 2026 (The degree of handicap in case of PH candidates should be minimum 40% and to be certified by the competent authority) both for Paper-I (LP Level) and Paper-II (UP Level).
Please Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those incumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to the 29 July, 2011.
