Staff Selection Commission (SSC) SI and ASI Recruitment – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will hold an open competitive Computer Based Examination for Recruitment of Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assistant Sub Inspectors in CISF, the details of which are as under.

i) Name of the Post: Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces)

Number of Posts: 1180

Pay Scale: Level-6 (Rs.35400/- to 112400/-) 

Age: 20-25 years as on 01.08.2018 (i.e. candidates born not before 02.08.1993 and not later than 01.08.1998 are eligible). The relaxation of age as per govt rule. 

Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent (Before 01-08-2018).

ii) Name of the Post: Sub Inspector (Executive) – (Male/ Female) in Delhi Police

Number of Posts: 97(Male) and 53(Female)

Pay Scale: Level-6 (Rs.35400/- to112400/-) 

Age: 20-25 years as on 01.08.2018 (i.e. candidates born not before 02.08.1993 and not later than 01.08.1998 are eligible). The relaxation of age as per govt rule. 

Required Qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent (Before 01-08-2018).
  • Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests.

iii) Name of the Post: Assistant Sub-Inspector (Executive) in CISF

Pay Scale: Level-5 (Rs. 29200/- to 92300/-)

How to apply: Candidates must apply through the website http://www.ssconline.nic.in or „Click here to apply‟ link provided at http://www.ssc.nic.in->Apply->CAPF. Procedure for online submission of applications is given at Annexure-II.

Application Fee: Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only). Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ SBI Net Banking or by using Visa/ MasterCard/ Maestro Credit/ Debit cards.

  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Ex Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying fee. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Candidates who are not exempted from fee payment must ensure that their fee has been deposited with SSC. If the fee is not received by SSC, status of Application Form is shown „Incomplete‟ and this information is printed on the top of the Application Form. Further, such status can be verified at „Check your Application Status Here” tab provided at http://www.ssconline.nic.in. Such applications which remain incomplete due to non-receipt of fee will be SUMMARILY REJECTED and no request for consideration of such applications and fee payment after the period specified in the Notice of Examination shall be entertained.

Syllabus for Paper I:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern- folding and completion, Indexing Address matching, Date & city matching Classification of centre codes/ roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/ numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Other sub-topics if any. 
  • General Knowledge and General Awareness: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates‟ general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time & work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

Syllabus for Paper II:

  • English Language & Comprehension: Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate‟s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, comprehension etc.

  • On the basis of their performance in Paper-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in PET/ PST Examination. The Staff Selection Commission shall have the discretion to fix different minimum qualifying marks in each part of Paper-I taking into consideration among others, category-wise vacancies and category-wise number of candidates.
  • Only those candidates who qualified in PET/ PST Examination will be allowed to appear in PaperII Examination. PET/ PST are mandatory but qualifying in nature. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET.
  • On the basis of their performance in Paper-I+Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Medical Examination. Candidates, who are successful in Medical Examination, will be called for detailed Document Verification. 
  • All shortlisted candidates are required to come for Document Verification. Those failing to do so will not be considered for final selection. Candidates are required to submit all documents in original for verification at the time of Document Verification.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of aggregate marks scored by candidates in PaperI+Paper-II. Allocation of candidates to various User Departments/ Forces will be made based on their merit position and the preference of posts exercised by them at the time of Document Verification.
  • SC, ST, OBC and Ex-servicemen candidates, who are selected on the same standard as applied to general candidates, will not be adjusted against the reserved vacancies. Such candidates will be accommodated against the general/ unreserved vacancies as per their position in the overall Merit List or vacancies earmarked for their category, whichever is advantageous to them. The reserved vacancies will be filled up separately from amongst the eligible SC, ST, OBC, Ex-servicemen candidates.
  • An SC, ST, OBC and Ex-serviceman candidate, who qualifies on the basis of relaxed standards viz. age limit, experience, qualifications, permitted number of chances in examination, extended zone of consideration larger than what is provided for general category candidates, etc is to be counted against reserved vacancies. Such candidates would be deemed as unavailable for consideration against unreserved vacancies.
  • To fill up all the vacancies in reserved categories, candidates may also be recommended at the relaxed standards.
  • The benefit of age-relaxation as admissible for ex-servicemen will not be termed as relaxed standards in regard to age.
  • Success in the examination confers no right to appointment unless government is satisfied after such enquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respects for appointment to the service/ post.
  • The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of examination will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If, on verification, at any time, it is found that they do not fulfill any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be cancelled by the Staff Selection Commission.
  • Candidates, who are appointed on the basis of this examination, shall be on probation for a period of two years and during the period of probation, the candidates would be required to undergo such training or pass such examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. On successful completion of the period of probation, the candidates shall, if considered fit for permanent appointment, be confirmed to their post by the Controlling Authority.
